This entire Roof Terrace was planted using our modular planter design. Our 14-gauge corten steel planters assemble from five panels. The modular design is very cost effective to fabricate and can accommodate many popular sizes. These planters were fabricated with the footprint of 2 feet wide by 4 feet long. The shorter planters were fabricated 18” high to match the height of the IPE benches, and the taller planters were fabricated to 36” high to accommodate planting of bamboo.
The planters fit into a 24 inch x 24 inch grid utilizing adjustable height Bison or SpiraPave pedestals with concrete pavers and IPE decking. Corten planters are set into the pedestal grid leaving a gap between the concrete pavers and the corten steel planters. This allows for the planters to drain directly onto the subfloor, whereby eliminating staining of the concrete pavers.
Irrigation tubing was added to each planter for automated watering. Corten planters were filled with gravel to facilitate drainage and a mixture of soil was added for vegetation.
