Advantages of Aluminum
Aluminum weighs less than other planter metals and offers great strength as a material. This is important for installations where weight of the planters is a factor. The strength of aluminum translates to aluminum planters being frost proof ,crack proof and low maintenance as they can be left outside year-round.
Further, aluminum can be powder coated in a variety of colors. Powder coating is the process of electrostatically applying color particles and bonding the color particles by baking the metal in a special hot oven. This process greatly reduces volatile organic compounds as compared to traditional wet paint solutions, thus achieving a safer container for your plants and vegetables.
Aluminum planters will not corrode or produce rust run-off. However, soil that is inside the planter still has minerals and can produce runoff that could discolor the adjacent surface. Staining on non-porous material like Trex decking can be easily cleaned up with a brush and CLR-type cleaner.
What is The Cost?
While aluminum has many advantages, the fabrication process for traditional welded planters can be difficult and costly. Welding aluminum requires specialty equipment and training. In addition, the process of sanding and buffing the planters’ welded seams is time consuming and soul crushing.
Our Innovative Design
To address the prohibitively high cost of welded aluminum planters we have developed a modular rectangular planter design that uses no welding in the manufacturing process. Planters assemble from five powder coated aluminum panels. Now you can enjoy all the benefits of aluminum planters without high cost. The size and material thickness of our planters assures that there is no bowing or deflection from soil and plants.
